RBI authorises RBL Bank to collect direct taxes

Private sector lender RBL Bank has been authorised by the Reserve Bank of India to collect direct taxes on behalf of the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

“After technical integration, RBL Bank’s corporate and individual customers will be able to pay their direct taxes through RBL Bank’s mobile banking or net banking platforms as well as through the branch banking network, resulting in ease and convenience for customers,” it said in a statement on Thursday.

Parool Seth, Head, Financial Institutions and Government Banking, RBL Bank, said, “We are pleased to be entrusted with this important mandate, which will help us enhance our bouquet of services and open up multiple convenient channels for our customers to pay taxes.”

Private sector Karur Vysya Bank on Tuesday said it has commenced the integration process with the Central Board of Direct Taxes to collect direct taxes on its behalf, following the approval it received from the Reserve Bank. “Reserve Bank of India has authorised Karur Vysya Bank to collect direct taxes on behalf of Central Board of Direct Taxes. Following the approval received, the bank has initiated the integration process with CBDT“, the Tamil Nadu based-bank said in a statement.

Once the integration process gets completed, the bank customers can remit the direct taxes through any branch or through net banking or mobile banking services (DLite Mobile application).

“It has been the long standing requirement of our customers that they should be able to pay their direct taxes through our bank. We are happy that we will be in a position to offer this service to our customers”, the bank’s MD and CEO, B Ramesh Babu said.

Kotak Mahindra Bank gets nod to collect direct, indirect taxes, BFSI News, ET BFSI

Mumbai, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd (KMBL) has received approval from the government for collection of direct and indirect taxes, such as income tax, Goods and Services Tax (GST) etc, through its banking network.

With this, the bank becomes the first scheduled private sector bank to receive approval after the announcement by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allowing all banks to participate in government-related business.

After technical integration, KMBL customers will be able to pay their direct and indirect taxes straight from KMBL’s mobile banking or net banking platforms as well as through KMBL’s branch banking network, resulting in immense ease and convenience for customers, the bank said in a statement.

Kotak Mahindra Bank’s Joint Managing Director, Dipak Gupta said: “We are delighted to receive the necessary approvals permitting Kotak to collect direct and indirect taxes on behalf of the government, making tax payments more simple, convenient and efficient for our customers.
