Veteran CIO, Ashwin Khorana has joined Ujjivan Small Finance Bank as CIO. With over three decades of experience, most of which has been in the BFSI sector, he has been instrumental in designing and strategizing the technology roadmap of some of the leading banks in India.

Most recently Khorana was a technology advisor and consultant CIO before joining Ujjivan Small Finance Bank. Prior to that he served as the CIO of Jana Small Finance Bank.

Khorana sees himself as a generalist across the entire financial technology landscape and a master of core areas. Combining his strategy strength with deep technology as well as strong domain expertise in the BFSI sector has made him among the top technology thought leaders in the sector.

Among the leading companies where Khorana has worked in a technology leadership role include Janalakshmi Financial Services, ING Vysya Bank (now Kotak Mahindra Bank) and Standard Chartered Bank among others.

Through his career Khorana has been involved in various Core Banking implementations and has handled solution delivery for Securities Services, CRM, Basel II, Customer Analytics, Credit and Debit Cards, Credit Risk, Payments, Internet Banking, eCommerce & digital initiatives.

SBI’s Amit Saxena joins RBI Innovation Hub as CTO, BFSI News, ET BFSI

Amit Saxena, Global Deputy CTO of State Bank of India joins RBI Innovation Hub as the CTO today.

On Aug 6, 2020, the Reserve Bank announced that it would set up Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) to promote innovation across the financial sector by leveraging on technology and creating an environment that would facilitate and foster innovation.

The RBIH shall create an ecosystem that would focus on promoting access to financial services and products. This will also promote financial inclusion. The Hub will collaborate with financial sector institutions, the technology industry, and academic institutions and coordinate efforts for the exchange of ideas and development of prototypes related to financial innovations. It would develop internal infrastructure to promote fintech research and facilitate engagement with innovators and start-ups.

As the CTO of Reserve Bank Innovation Hub, Saxena will be tasked with building an innovation ecosystem for India’s banking and financial services industry. In his new position, Saxena will be based in Bangalore and will report to Rajesh Bansal CEO of RBI Innovation Hub.

Saxena has over 22 years of experience in IT Strategy formation, Application development, Stakeholder Management, and product development. At SBI played a leading role in driving digital initiatives and innovations in customer-centric journeys. Before joining SBI, Saxena worked for companies like Syntel, HCL technologies, TechMahindra, and Quark.

AU Small Finance Bank appoints Sharad Goklani as CTO, BFSI News, ET BFSI

AU Small Finance Bank has appointed Sharad Goklani as President & CTO. He will be based out of Jaipur and will report to the company’s CIO, Ankur Tripathi.

In his new role, Goklani would be responsible for ensuring technology deployment and adoption across the bank.

“Moreover, given the diverse personas of our customer base, as a CTO of a tech-first Bank, Mr. Goklani would be responsible for creating technology interfaces, which are adaptable are flexible enabling tailor-made services for our unique set of customers,” the company told ETCIO.

Founded in Jaipur in 1996 as Au Financiers, a non-deposit taking NBFC, the company transformed into AU Small Finance Bank in 2017.

As a retail-focused bank constantly innovating to make banking simple for its customers, AU Bank is now moving towards being a digitally-led Bank with a pan India presence.

Previously, Goklani was EVP & CTO at Equitas Small Finance Bank. He has close to 25 years of professional experience and has worked with companies like Bharti Airtel and NIIT Limited in the past.

Purani has done his MCA from the University of Rajasthan.
